Yesterday, LaDonna and I participated in the Pine Bluff CBC. One of the highlights of this count is counting what is most likely the largest concentration of Ross's Geese outside of Merced, CA. Several years ago, we counted 15,000 Ross's. Yesterday, we counted 20,000 Ross's Geese, including 2 "Blue" Ross's Geese; one of the rarest birds in all of North America. Below is a photo of one of the birds, in the very center of the picture. Note how black the bird is along with the very noticeably white scapulars on the back and now compare this to the two relatively dull "Blue" Snow Geese to the right and the one in the foreground. Note that there is also a bird just to the left of the "Blue" Ross's that is partially hidden and may also be a "Blue" Ross's.
