had several scissor-tails yesterday but none today. i don't consider them "late" until November 1.
we had 3 palm warblers on saturday at BKNWR. an even dozen plegadis ibis were west of the grain bins in a semi-flooded field with several thousand puddle ducks -mostly pintail and gadwall.
also on saturday, near amagon, i saw a yellow rail, flushed by a combine.
on sunday, on top of dardanelle lock & dam, was a juvenile plumaged laughing gull. the son of laughy?

Mitchell, I hear rumors that you and others are thinking about trying to net Saw-whet Owls. Any truth to this? LaDonna and I stayed up almost all night a couple weekends ago, playing a tape, without success, of course. We will probably do this again Thanksgiving week or maybe even again this weekend. I also want to try at Erbie Campground, where Jack Stewart had one on their CBC a couple years ago.

There is truth! We aren't 100% sure yet, but hopefully within the next 2 weeks. I'll let you know.

Had the adult Lesser Black-backed Gull again today at Delaware Rec Area on Lake Dardanelle. Also, had an Eastern Screech-Owl in our Wood Duck box.

Here in Cabot, there are tons of birds at our feeders today, including Fox Sparrow (10+), LINCOLN'S SPARROW and a stunning male OREGON JUNCO.

Here is a photo of the "Oregon" Junco that has been our feeders for a couple days now. Perhaps, not surprisingly, we had what was possibly the same bird here last winter. Attachments:

Had a Palm Warbler in Searcy today, near my parents home. It was the eastern "Yellow" Palm Warbler -D.p. hypochrysea. Always nice to see.
