During this hot, dry season I make sure and have lots of water available for the birds. I also have lots of underbrush they can escape to for shade and protection. As for the type of feed I throw a handful or two of a milo maize mix on the ground for the Mourning Doves and other ground feeders. In the hanging feeders I use a good mix with primarily black sunflower seed with some peanuts and other 'good' seed in it. I can't think of the brand name right now but it's available at Walmart. A 10# bag is about $15. This attracts Cardinals, Titmice, Chickadees, Brown Thrashers, Grosbeaks Goldfinches, Red-bellied Woodpeckers and the occasional squirrel. In the winter I make homemade suet to supplement
