I've been doing some work on my PBase gallery of Cave Swallows that I've photographed to date in Arkansas and realized that I had not included a shot of the first state record found at Millwood on May 29, 2005. In reviewing the series of images that I captured of this juvenile, I found one taken from a moderate distance that allows a good comparison with 5 juvenile Cliff Swallows. The Cliff Swallows show a good range of variation yet the juvenile Cave sticks out like the proverbial sore thumb. It is important to remember that juvenile Cave Swallows are also quite variable but the bird shown in the attached image is pretty typical for the birds of this age I've found so far.
