Also not in the state of Arkansas, but maybe of some interest: A South Polar Skua is being seen on Lake Overholder in Oklahoma City, OK. Beware, this bird is a maniac and has been seen knocking birds out of the air into the water and tearing them apart. Birds I have heard reports of as victims of the Skua are Cattle Egrets, Black Terns and a Yellow- Crowned Night Heron which fought back and escaped. The native birds don't know to be wary of this intruder.

Did you get any pictures? Unfortunately not. The bird posed on a snag for us at less than 30 feet but flew before we could get the camera up. We spent too much time just looking at the bird. We went back the next morning but never saw it again before we had to head back home.

Ah well. I probably would've stared a long time too ha! Such an exotic color, especially for a kingfisher in the US.

Allan Mueller and Karen Holliday went down to see it a couple days ago but I don't know if they saw it or not.
