LaDonna and I birded southeast Arkansas, today. At Moore Bayou, we had Anhinga, Common Gallinule, Purple Gallinule, and Black-bellied Whistling-Duck (2). Near Arkansas City, we had White Ibis (3 immatures), more Anhingas, Least Bittern, Least Tern (dozens), and Fulvous Whistling-Duck (7).
Anybody else think it's more than a coincidence that Desha is an anagram of Hades. Seems like the heat down there is permanent.
